What you are legally entitled to after a workplace injury
A workplace injury creates the employer's liability for damage regardless of fault. You are entitled to: compensation for lost earnings during sick leave (the difference between your average earnings and sick pay), pain and suffering and permanently reduced quality of life (calculated under a government regulation), property damage, treatment costs and, where applicable, compensation for lost earnings after sick leave ends. Properly documenting the injury (an entry in the accident log, medical reports, witnesses) is key: this evidence is the basis of a successful claim.
