Notice or a termination agreement?
An employee can give notice at any time without giving a reason, with a 2 month notice period. A termination agreement is more flexible, allowing immediate termination or a specific date. The manner of ending the job no longer affects the amount of unemployment benefit: since 1 January 2026 (Act No. 120/2025 Coll.) the benefit is paid at the same rate whether the employment ends by agreement or by notice. The rate is 80% of the previous average net monthly earnings for the first two months, 50% in the third and fourth month, and 40% for the remaining period.
