How the amount of child support is set
Child support is set with regard to the child's living needs and the financial circumstances of both the paying and the receiving parent. The Ministry of Justice's guideline tables indicate a range of 15 to 30 percent of the paying parent's net income, depending on the child's age. However, the court also considers specific circumstances such as housing, education and healthcare costs, and how much time the child spends with each parent. I will prepare a petition for child support backed by current income figures and case law.
